London Technical Paper: Dinsdag 26 Maart 2013
IRSE Centenary Top Inventions Debate and Innovations Award
Chaired by: Stephen Dapré (Network Rail)
at The IET, Savoy Place, London, WC2R 0BL, UK commencing at 18.00 Hours (Tea 17.30 Hours)

This event will celebrate the successes of our ancestors during the Top Inventions debate and then congratulate those who are helping to shape our future via the Innovation Awards.
The votes are in, the Top Three inventions have been announced, and three brave speakers will champion their causes:-
·         Electrical/Electronic Interlockings (Nathan Garratt - Atkins)
·         “Failsafe” as a concept (Trevor Foulkes – HS2)
·         Track circuits (David Fenner – independent consultant)
Each speaker will have 10 minutes to make their case in whatever manner they choose (see the March IRSE News for their manifestos).  There will be plenty of time for lively debate and questioning in an atmosphere of friendly rivalry, leading to a vote for the winner - whatever happens, it will be rather different to a traditional technical paper....

Having reflected on history, this meeting will then turn to our future with the separate Innovations Award ceremony.  This will recognise recent innovations in our industry whether a system, product or service, and is being judged upon the degree of novelty and the potential benefits delivered.  Two awards will be made: one to an individual, another to a company.
